Waited 3 months to get my money back...
So... I used a Scotiabank ABM one day to withdraw some money.
The money came out, but I didn't take it fast enough, so it went back into the machine.
I really needed that money BADLY, so I called Scotiabank's Dispute line and filed a dispute immediately.
I was told that I'd have to wait 15 business days to receive the money in my account. So reluctantly, I waited. I called back after 15 business days, and was told I had to wait another 15 to 30 business days. I kept calling, and was told the same thing over and over and over again!!!
Then one day, 3 months after the fact and so many phone calls, the money was returned to my account.
As a single mother, it was very stressful losing that amount of money and then having to WAIT 3 whole months to get it back!
I ended up switching to another bank, and I am 100% more satisfied and pleased with the bank I am with now, especially because they don't charge monthly fees!!!
Plus, I now get my direct deposits a day earlier than when I was with Scotiabank. Good riddance...

Verified ReviewerThis is an unsafe bank!
I contacted Scotiabank support and investigation regarding the fact that someone added my credit card to his Apple Pay and paid with it in Alberta (I live and have been in Ontario all this time. In transactions it can be seen that at the same time the same day, money was withdrawn from the card at the same time in different provinces).
At the same time, I didn't leave my credit card information to anyone and I don't even use Apple Pay or an iPhone, I have a sumsung. Moreover, it is impossible to add a credit card to Apple Pay without confirmation from the bank, which means it is the bank's fault. I'm surprised how the bank confirmed the addition of my credit card to someone's Apple Pay and still can't answer who it sent the confirmation to. Scotiabank promised to conduct an investigation and return the money within a month.
More than a month has passed, but I still have not received any news from the bank.
It's good that I have a limit on my Scotiabank credit card. I don't consider this bank safe.

Verified Reviewer | Mumbai, MaharashtraBecause they won’t give me access to my accounts because I do not have all my banking memorized and can answer questions for security
1 hour on hold to answer . Security question which require details of all your accounts catch is you are blocked from your accounts while on with them they can ask about any account you have and any detail.
If I do not get money transferred.
Something is going to bounce and it will be their fault.
And worse they will. Lame me when I cannot access an account without them. So knock it off and give me access to my account they will not give me access at a *** bank anyways so telling me to go to a branch will not work and it is -33 Celsius outside and I walk or take transit which means 20 min wait for a bus or longer .
When my RDSP matures I could be seeking banks elsewhere who have better services. So now another 1 hour to contact a person at Scotia and I am not impressed with you just so they can transfer me to yet another department and ask more security questions.
Preferred solution: Better service and if you are asking questions about accounts allow access to accounts.

Verified Reviewer | Issaquah, WashingtonMost useless bank ever!
There are so many events over the years I've had them as a bank. The latest was 6 weeks after I changed my password, they blocked access to my account until I changed it again, but wouldn't let me change it.
Told me I had to come into the branch; I live in another country! So I can't access my accounts; again. Before that, my card expired but they couldn't manage to get me a new card in 7 months of requests. You can't access your account with a user name; it has to be by card, so if you don't have an active card, you're locked out.
I had to go to a branch (travel from another country) to get a card and regain access. That was less than 2 months ago.
User's recommendation: Avoid them like the plague.

User's recommendation: Never work with such a bank who provide wrong information and doesn't value their customers .
Poor customer service
Most car loans I've always had buying off a lot deal has been with the Scotia Bank. I finished paying an 8 year no interest loan last September, never defaulting or missing a payment.
What really gets my goat is after my last payment I never received a thank you for your business, or any notification in 8 years to make me think I was even a customer. This was the same case when Covid and they held off my payments because of my finances. It was very nice, but they slammed me with interest for that time. So my loan dragged out to 9 years and no communication from Scotiabank.
Guess they were done with me, although my phone rang with marketer's asking if I wanted a Scotiabank visa card. 1 star for NO communication with me as supposedly a customer in almost 9 years.
User's recommendation: There are better banks

No customer service
I have been using apps or programs that require bank verification ir rent payment program , and for the past 6 plus months everything there needs to be bank verification it never works. So I called and some lady who was foreign told me to change my.pw that will fix it.
OK I tried it. Got same error. Left it alone. Then needed it for a new rent app and again bank verification failed.
Called the bank - again foreign lady you can barely understand.
I understand outsourcing its cheaper but foreign.ppl you can't.understand so they cannot provide any customer service. I'm leaving scotia bank because I need banking verification to work l.
